What to expect from your boudoir photography session
If you’ve never had a boudoir session before, you probably have a lot of questions.
What do I wear? What if I’m nervous? Will I know how to pose? What happens if I’m not comfortable in front of the camera?
First, take a breath. You don’t need to know how to pose, model, or even feel confident walking through the door. That’s what I’m here for.
As a boudoir photographer, my goal is to make your experience feel less like a photoshoot and more like a day that’s entirely about you. From getting ready in the studio to seeing your images for the first time, every part of your experience is designed to help you feel comfortable, confident, and completely taken care of.
Here’s exactly what you can expect.
Before Your Session
Your experience starts long before you step in front of my camera.
Once you book your session, I’ll send you everything you need to prepare, including guidance on what to bring, how to prepare your skin and hair, and what to expect on the day of your shoot.
And if you’re staring at your closet thinking, “I have absolutely nothing to wear,” don’t worry. My studio includes an exclusive client closet with a variety of lingerie and wardrobe options, so you can choose pieces that make you feel amazing without having to purchase an entirely new wardrobe for your session.
You’ll also have the opportunity to talk through your vision with me so we can make sure your session feels like you.
When You Arrive
Your session begins with getting settled in and making yourself at home.
If you've booked the LUXE Experience, you'll start with professional hair and makeup. This is your time to relax, sip something, chat, and let someone else take care of you for a little while.
There’s no rushing into the camera room.
The getting-ready portion is intentionally part of the experience because I want you to have time to settle in, get comfortable in the space, and start feeling like the best version of yourself.
And yes — you're allowed to have fun with it.
Choosing Your Looks
One of my favorite parts of the experience is helping you put your looks together.
Whether you bring your own pieces, choose something from the client closet, or do a combination of both, we’ll create looks that complement your body, your personality, and the overall feel you want for your images.
You don't need to know what will photograph well. That's my job.
I'll help you choose pieces, make adjustments, and create variety throughout your session so your final gallery doesn't feel like you're wearing the same outfit over and over again.
You Don't Need to Know How to Pose
This is probably the biggest thing I want you to know:
You do not need to know how to pose.
Seriously.
You don't need modeling experience. You don't need to practice in the mirror. And you definitely don't need to arrive knowing what to do with your hands.
I will guide you through everything.
I'll demonstrate poses, direct you into flattering angles, adjust your positioning, and give you little movements and prompts throughout the session. You’ll never be left standing in front of the camera wondering what you're supposed to do.
My job is to make you look incredible and feel comfortable doing it.
During Your Boudoir Session
Once we're shooting, we'll move through your different looks at a comfortable pace.
I'll guide you through poses from head to toe, paying attention to the little details that make a big difference in your final images like your hands, hair, posture, angles, and expression.
We'll also look at the back of the camera throughout the session when helpful, so you can see how incredible you're already looking.
And don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing.
Boudoir doesn't have to feel serious the entire time. Some of my favorite images happen in between the poses when you're laughing, moving, playing with your hair, or simply forgetting that there's a camera in front of you.
What If I'm Nervous?
You probably will be... And that's completely normal.
Most women aren't professional models. Most of my clients have never done anything like this before, and many walk into the studio feeling nervous, self-conscious, or unsure of what they've gotten themselves into.
Then something happens.
You start seeing yourself differently.
You realize your body can move in ways you didn't know it could. You see an image on the back of the camera and think, “Wait… that's ME?”
That's one of my favorite moments.
You don't have to arrive confident. You just have to arrive.
I'll take care of the rest.
After Your Session
Once your shoot is finished, the experience doesn't end when the camera turns off.
Your images are carefully selected for your reveal.
Depending on your preference and scheduling, you'll either have your reveal back in person, on Zoom, or receive access to your private viewing gallery within the following week.
This is when you get to see your unedited images for the first time and choose the photographs you absolutely love.
And one important note: I never provide or sell unedited images. Your final photographs are carefully selected and professionally retouched to create the finished artwork you see in your gallery.
Your Boudoir Experience Should Feel Like You
There isn't one right way to do a boudoir session.
Maybe you want something soft and romantic. Maybe you want dark and moody. Maybe you want playful, glamorous, dramatic, or a little bit of everything.
Your session should reflect you.
My studio in Southern California was created to give you a private, elevated space where you can let your guard down, try something new, and celebrate yourself without worrying about whether you're doing it "right."
Because there is no perfect body for boudoir.
There is no perfect age.
There is no perfect amount of confidence you need to have beforehand.
There is simply you, exactly as you are right now.
And that's more than enough.
